Krita is pretty good for brush effect textures and splash aesthetics, it’s just a little hard to get grittiness, I find. But it’s pretty user friendly, and overall, I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a budget friendly (free) digital painting program.

Amazing.
I think the top one with a little more blue, and touches of a darker blue would accentuate the impact.
I definitely like the warm and cool mix, but maybe a bit more cool, and a bit of stronger/darker cool touches would amplify the contrast and help the moody, stark effect--so it's almost like the cool is sucking the warmth out.
